Well doesn't it depend on the number of dimensions you consider if you take the 4 dimensions of space/time and add gravity as a 5th dimension the earth would be a flat elliptical strip around the sun and if you take out time then it's gravitationally flat with a few bumps and dips where gravity is higher/lower.

So while you may hold on to 'facts' they just sway probability.

The reality is that science is never about truth, we don't seek what we know, but we seek what we don't know it's about 'ignorance'. It may seems that we have facts, but how much bizarre and disconnected from real experience they might be? What about quantic theory? The shrödinger cat is giving many people headache. And what about math and non euclidean logic? My cousin who is quite smart can't still get over the axiom that parallel can cross in curved space, I mean he 'can see it', parallel line can't be curved. Science is in fact quite bizarre once push, flat earth is more occam razor than round earth based on direct observation, you have to find many weird edge case to actually prove it.

The same goes for Science, science do evolve by leap of logic and shift of worldview, and it's not always observable truth. So be sure you are actually answering to the right discussion, and that will only happen if you listen and understand. The problem is that the Axiom may not have been directly related to the discussion at hand, flat earth might be about deep down about existential discomfort of a bizarre universe that defy immediate experience of reality, of the lack of agency in the face of ruthless expert, arguing about flat earth won't change them because its' an answer to another question.
